Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
OPS recognised as NSW most successful school in sport in 2025
Our school has enjoyed an unrivalled year of success with 11 teams winning Western region titles, while our school came first in all district carnivals, including Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. Our individual athletes have broken District and Western Region records and have taken out District, Regional and State titles across a multitude of events and relays. Four students also had the honour of representing NSW at National events. One student in Athletics won a national gold medal in running and a national silver medal in Long jump.
Our successful school teams went to state level to secure three state titles in girls softball and both boys cricket and boys basketball. Following this our school secured three second place state finishes in Boys softball, rugby, and girls cricket. The school finished also with two third place state finishes in both Girls Rugby 7’s and Netball while both our boys and girls football teams, as well as our Rugby League team finished in fifth position for the state tournaments.
This promoted the school to being recognised as the most successful sporting school in the state in 2025.
Tournament of Minds Success
Congratulations to our TOM teams! Tournament of Minds (TOM) is a creative problem-solving competition where students work together to tackle challenges in areas such as STEM, the Arts, Social Sciences, and more. OPS achieved outstanding results — placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in STEM, 1st and 2nd in The Arts and 3rd in Social Sciences. Two of our teams are now heading to Sydney in a fortnight to represent our school at the next level.
What a fantastic achievement!
PSSA Rugby
Our Girls Rugby 7s and Boys Rugby Union teams travelled to Coonabarabran for the State Quarter Finals, both taking on tough Inverell opposition. In thrilling contests, both teams won their matches, securing their place in the State Finals in two weeks.
Congratulations to all players and a huge thank you to our staff, parents, and community supporters.
